USAA Phishing Scam
 

Monday - December 17th., 2007
Here is some information about another phishing scam targeting USAA, a financial services company.  Following below is the text of Joe Lear's email.

If you receive(d) an email from USAA please delete it without clicking the link inside. If you clicked the link already please let me know (learj@missouri.edu). It has been verified via a USAA representative that the e-mail is fake and contains a virus or other malware.

The email includes the following:

"Please take a moment to verify the following information:

Our records show that on 12/16/07, at 09:00 AM, you accessed usaa.com and established or updated the following information:

Social Security Number

Date of Birth

No action is necessary unless this activity occurred without your knowledge or permission. Please call (800) 759-8722 to report unauthorized changes.

We value your business and are committed to keeping your accounts and personal information safe and secure.
