New Phishing Scam - Background Investigation

Date: December 17th., 2004
To our Extension computer users.

We've been made aware of a new phishing scam today.  It takes the form of an automatic email with something like this message in the Subject: line;
"Someone is investigating your background at our website."

From the wording in the message it looks like someone is asking questions about you at their Web site.  What they want you to do is click on the links in the email and check up on what's happening.  Don't go there.  They are trying to get you to volunteer your personal information once you click either of the two links within the email.

Please do not click anything in this message, just delete it.

We don't know if it's just phishing or a potential virus threat to your computer, so please practice safe computing and *do not* click on the links.

Thanks for your attention, the ETCS staff.
